El Jimador and Gumballs

I had two of my favorite things tonight! We went to El Jimador (an awesome Mexican restaraunt) after our infant CPR class tonight. I LOVE that place and could eat there every day! Their salsa is AWESOME!!

Then, as we were walking out I saw a gumball machine! I have not had a gumball in two years. I love gumballs so much that Wade bought me a gumball machine in college. And he knows he cannot walk by a gumball machine without pulling out a quarter for me! Tonight I almost had my gumball swiped by a toddler! It was one of those machines that goes down a spiral before coming out. Well, the little tike saw it coming and started a mad dash to the gumball machine. He tripped before he got there so I didn't have to worry about taking candy from a baby!

Alaina

This is my niece Alaina. She came down with my parents the weekend we moved. I was so excited she was able to come visit! She is extra special to me because I took care of her for the year that Wade was deployed. She was born one week after Wade left, in Feb '07. She helped the year go by very quickly, and it was nice to be with my sister and her husband for that year. I miss her and love her as if she were my own! Here is Alaina trying to look like her Aunt Bean. It was so funny!
Wade and Alaina reading. She loves to read. Swear to God, she has memorized books and will "read" them to you word for word! And there are multiple sentences on each page! She is the smartest little two year old (just turned 2 last week) I have ever met, and I'm not just saying that because she's family!

More reading to Grandpa Bissell, she'll do anything not to have to go to bed!

Our House

Master Bathroom, love it! It has two sinks and two walk in closets and another storage closet.
Baby's room. Here is one of the pieces that we redid in white. We have a ways to go in baby's room, but I have my shower this weekend, so I am very excited to see what I get and then to finish buying whatever she needs. The clock is ticking!
View from sitting in the living room. The two bedrooms and spare bath is to the left, and our master bedroom and bath is to the right. Kitchen/dining room are straight ahead.

Living room. Notice the new paint color.

Kitchen, our oak table looks great with the oak cabinets. And our laundry room is off the kitchen to the left.

I haven't taken any pictures from outside yet. We moved in on the 14th and we had lots of help. Since we have owned the house since Jan 16th Wade and I moved a lot of the little stuff ourselves, and we really just needed help with the big items and the dreaded kitchen! My parents came down for a long weekend, and brought my niece Alaina. And Wade's Dad, his Aunt Sandy, Uncle John, and cousins Jeff and Jody came to help too. It went very quickly and did not take long at all to get everything moved and put away. Thank you everyone!!! Next time we PCS, we're having the army do it. Moving is no fun.
We are really liking the house. I miss cranking the heat up like we did on post. We used to keep the thermostat at 75, so having it at 70 here feels very cold! Even Wade thinks 70 feels cold! Hurry up spring!

And They're Off!!

After 23 months I got my braces off today!!! Even after eating a banana it feels like my front teeth are going to fall out! They feel almost loose and free, not a good feeling for your teeth! I have to wear a custom positioner for 4 more weeks to fine tune some more movements. After that I will get a permanent wire on the back of my front teeth and be fit for a retainer.

My two week update... I am 28wks and 3days. According to books she should weigh about 2 1/2 lbs by the end of the week.

(Both pictures show our new wall color, but you can see how different it looks with different lighting. I am happy with the color and do not anticipate painting again any time soon! I will get house pictures up soon.)

What I will miss about living on post

1. Feeling secure and safe in the neighborhood
2. Quick and easy for Wade to get to work, he can come home after PT for breakfast and
for lunch (less gas money spent)
3. Easy to get to the commissary. I have made it a habit to go there for a few things at a time.
4. Easy to get to the hospital for all my OB appts and three more breathing technique classes.
5. Friends down the street, this one is applying less and lesss as half of them have moved away.
6. Good neighborhood and sidewalks to go on walks.
7. We are already here and all settled in!
8. It would be easier for Wade as a commander to be on post. (he takes command on Feb 27)

What I will love about our new house

1. More square footage!
2. Two, count them, two bathrooms
3. Carpeting
4. Two stall garage
5. Friends downt the street, Stef and Amy!
6. Seperate laundy room, the washer and dryer will not be in the kitchen
7. Being able to customize the house and make it feel like ours.
8. Closer to work for me, watching Abby down the street and the schools for when I sub.

Round Two

So, if chronic indecisiveness is a disease, I have it. I wish I could blame it on pregnancy, but I have suffered from this all my life. It takes me HOURS to make a decision. I analyze everything over and over and over. That being said, I decided, after many days and sleepless nights, that I did not like the paint color on the living room walls that we spent last weekend painting. We agreed that we would wait until the furniture was moved in and then I could decide if I still didn't like it. So we took over a chair of ours, and I decided I didn't like it. It's not that I don't like the color, it's a great color, I just didn't like it with our stuff. So, Wade threw his hands in the air and told me to pick out a new color. Might as well repaint before we move everything in. Here's where the trouble begins. I spent MORE hours analyzing paint colors, and I already had it narrowed down to two colors! Even as I asked to have the paint mixed I was still going eenie meenie miney mo in my head, and ended up going with the color I would typically not have chosen. I love to play it safe. Wade thinks I am boring. So I went with color, and we have color. Now the new color (a brighter shade of green) is on the wall, and in the back of my head I'm wondering what the safer, more nuetral color would look like on the walls.......

And remember how I said we may redo the baby furniture in white? Well, we did. So we spent this last weekend, saturday and sunday, redoing EVERYTHING we had done the weekend before. Wade is a good husband!

Home Improvements

We spent the entire weekend at the house doing some painting, cleaning, and furniture refinishing work. The house will be totally move in ready by the 14th, our big moving day!

Dr Wade spent monday afternoon refinishing some furniture for baby's room. We had some mismatched pieces, so Wade worked on refinishing them so they would match. But now that they are done we are thinking of redoing them in white! We'll see!
This is the living room. The color is called Stillness, and it is a light green with kind of a greyish tone. Looks very nice! (the wall looks a little blotchy because they are wet spots, it dried very smooth) This room took forever! It's not the painting that takes that long, it's the taping of the floorboards, ceiling, door sills, windows, etc. We also had the help of our friend Laura, so that helped the job go faster. We were at the house for nine hours that day, we were exhausted! We still are exhausted!

Baby's room is getting a fresh coat of paint! It is called Desert Pink!

A few weeks ago we rented a rug doctor to clean the carpets in the entire house. I highly recommend that everyone clean their carpets at least once a year. It was very gross!
