Chicken Scampi

On saturday night I decided to look up Olive Garden's Chicken Scampi, and found a great recipe. I take pride in this because I'm not that fond of cooking (just thinking about what to make for dinner makes me sleepy) and I don't like multiple ingredients and/or steps. A long list of ingredients makes me turn the page very quickly! Wade teases me that if something has too much flavor I won't like it. I'm all about less is more. Anyway... I love Olive Garden's scampi and have always wanted to try to make it. It was great, tasted almost identical to OG's. If I can do it, you can do it. It is definately a dish that I will serve to guests! Here's the website I got the recipe from http://www.recipesecrets.net/forums/secret-recipe-archive/12786-olive-garden-recipes.html Olive Garden also posts recipes on their website.

Next time I make it, I will use less butter. It was very buttery. FYI, you will dirty many pots as you make this, and it took about an hour, not too shabby!

Self-Care

For all you military readers.....

I finally got my self care card yesterday, and I am so excited about it! I can't believe I didn't get one earlier. I always thought, oh, we can afford to buy a few OTC drugs, why bother with getting freebies? (For those of you who don't know what a self-care card is, all you have to do is attend a short class and they give you a card to use at the pharmacy and you can get FREE OTC medications. It is everything you need in your medicine cabinet. You can get 5 items per week. You get a card for you and your spouse and it transfers from post to post.) If you haven't gotten your self care card yet, go get one! I stocked up on Tylenol drops, gas drops, and even diaper rash ointment for baby, and some Benadryl for Wade.

Go get your card!

Empathy Belly

Today was the last day of our Breathing Techniques class. It was all great information and the labor and delivery tour was great, but I was really looking forward to today's class! I wonder if you can check out these belly's and make them wear them for the weekend..... The few minutes Wade had this on does not do it justice. Entertaining all the same! But I'm glad the belly and man boobs were removable!

Who Swallowed A Basketball?

Um, that would be me. Today marks 31 weeks and 2 days. She has gone through a pretty big growth spurt in the last week. No stretch marks yet... (knock on wood!)

Baby Shower

Last weekend I had my baby shower up in Des Moines, IA. It was GREAT! And I got A LOT of good stuff! Thank you to everyone who came and/or sent a gift. We got a lot of her big items and have very little left to buy for her ourselves. I say that now, but all that little stuff will add up quickly, as I went to Wal-Mart this weekend and picked up a few things, and found out how quickly it adds up. We need to make a trip to Target and we should be set. But, back to the baby shower. It was very nice, hosted by my sister and mother. We had appetizers, a meal, and my mom made some cheesecake for dessert. I had a great turnout, and those who didn't make it were still kind enough to send a gift. I just can't believe how lucky we have been with getting hand me downs and all the gifts we have received. I can't imagine what it cost without an older sister and family and friends!

Me and my sister Leanne, and her daughter Alaina.

Love this picture! Me and my "sisters". We're all sister-in-laws, but we are all due within a month of each other. Tiffany, on the right, is due April 5 with a boy, Jessica, in the middle, is due May 4 with a girl, and myself is due May 9 with a girl. Tiffany had her shower the same day in the afternoon. It was a day full of baby gifts!

Change of Command

Wade had his Change of Command ceremony last Friday. He is now the commander of the 103rd Engineer Company, of the 94th Engineer Battalion. Command lasts at least 18 months and Wade will be in charge of approximately 190 soldiers. Pretty big company. In the last week we have gotten a taste of command. Last friday before we could even leave town Wade needed to drive back on post for a signature, and last night we had our first late night with Wade taking care of certain issues. He got home for about 10 minutes after 10 o'clock and was called back in, not getting home until almost midnight. Poor guy!
